At an unusual time for the entertainment industry with the Covid-19 outbreak, Hu Nan TV in China are still producing big entertainment shows.
Hu Nan asked Tom Sutherland of DX7 Design to provide lighting design and consultation for their show ‘Pin Duo Duo 618’. Tom asked me to provide consultation assistance along with helping to provide the on-site team with pre-programmed renders for each song as reference.
Normally, a show like this would involve me going to China to program the lighting for them. This time, however, I was not able to travel to China. So had to adapt the work flow to work for this project.
With equipment hired from JL Lighting, I created a pre-viz setup at home. We also utilised a live feed of rehearsals happening in China and a direct talk back system with the crew to consult on their show.
